Jessica Wang
Graduate Student jessicaw@caltech.eduJessica joined the Darkwah-Oppong Lab after completing her undergraduate studies in physics at MIT. She had her first taste of AMO physics with professor Vladan Vuletic, where she worked on electronics and optical setups for building an experiment combining single cesium atoms in tweezers in an optical cavity. She then visited professor Francesco Scazza's lab in Trieste, Italy, where she worked on a PDH laser lock system for a ytterbium optical tweezer experiment. Here, in the Darkwah-Oppong Lab, Jessica is excited to help build a new experiment from the ground up (and soon to use it for studying interesting physics).

Vassilios Kaxiras
Graduate Student vkaxiras@caltech.eduVassilios started at the Darkwah-Oppong lab in March of 2025, a short while after completing his undergraduate degree in physics from Harvard College. Before, he spent 2 years in Professor Markus Greiner's group, where he worked on new schemes for generating and studying many body quantum entanglement in an erbium quantum gas microscope. His junior summer, Vassilios worked in Professor Jon Simon's lab at Stanford, where he built an optical tweezer array within an optical cavity. When Vassilios isn't underground in the lab, he's traveling or skiing.
